hello all, I am curios as why my engine would run smoother at idle with the PCV and hose pulled out of the top of rocket Cover(186 engine) as opposed to in (Standard 202 stommy fitted). I notice alot smoother opperation with out and rough with it in. The PCV has been cleaned with fuel recently. Is this normal??? if not any option to fix???

Hi James, If you shake the PCV valve when it is out of the motor, does it rattle? If not, clean it out with carby cleaner. Hi Dave,
Aircleaner replaced recently, I didn't block the port on carby base, just pulled the valve/hose out of rocket cover. Can you get away with not using one??? and using a vent pipe like on other donks???

hello again,
Just found this comment on the oldholden site, is this true?? and how to overcome???
If your engine suffers a lot of blow-by, you will notice a rougher idle when a PCV system is installed, but thats not really the PCV's fault is it?

Hi James,
That comment will be due to the amount of fumes getting sucked into the carb and clogging the system...
IIRC, a PCV valve was stock on an HT and, being a motorcyclist as well, I cannot recommend allowing any oil from your motor an easier w

If you don't want to run a PCV, then an alternative is to run a catch tank, vented into the air cleaner housing (or even run the rocker vent straight into air cleaner housing (and block off the PCV input into the Carby).
