Hello I have a 2001 TS Astra and the air conditioner does not work at all. The car has only done 33,000 km and been regularly serviced. I took it to Suttons Waitara who charged $80 to tell me it needed a new compressor, condensor, O rings and a regass - total cost $1975. Needless to say I thought I would investigate this further. After reading this forum (thanks to Dr Terry) and other car forums I understand the TS Astra has a common problem with the clutch coil on the compressor. Can experts out there (Dr Terry) explain how and why the clutch coil burns out and if replacement coils are free of the initial problem. Is there a simple diagnostic check for this fault, hence avoiding the costly relacement of parts as recommended by Holden? Anyone recommend a reliable honest a/c workshop in the Hornsby area of Sydney? Many thanks for any advice. Edited by user Friday, 23 March 2007 8:43:23 PM(UTC)
