Been following this thread & its got me interested in a similar conversion. What kind of fuel pump are you using? Does inyone know if a Holley Blue will be sufficient to feed the EFI? Also, I assume the blue/black motors have the same pattern of bolts for

in reply to the Beige Hornet the VK carby motor came with a factory 5speed. the EFI only ever came with the auto as far as i know. the holley blue pump is not an efi pump so i doubt that it would work. im using a holley red to get the fuel upto the surge

Kraul yes I am at that point but i am thinking of putting a tank out of a VS ute witch already have a surge tank in it. I just have to see how much mucking around its going to take.

To make the VS tank fit, you would have to mount it where the spare wheel goes.As long has it doesnt sit to low. Holley red fuel pumps pump 7psi.Holley blue pump 14psi. Multi point EFI pumps nomaly run around 36 psi regulated and around 43 psi unregulated

The VK five speed came out behind the 173 (2.85) and are not a very strong box

Kraul - I can post a pic of my setup in the HJ 1 tonner if you want... its just a layout since the whole lot needs a paint and wiring needs to be hidden etc.. but if you are after ideas as to where to mount stuff etc I can post a link.

Ta guys. Do you think the fact that the efi only came with the auto a comment on the efi, or the fragility of the 5 spd? Theres no reason it wont work well with a manual...?

The vk efi ecu does not have anything at all to do with the auto or shift points etc so I don't see how there could be any problem with them working together. But if they are a weak box it may not be the best choice for the box's life considering the efi |

Hi Guys.
A bit of confusion here, I think Mr Void meant 173s (not 179s).
The BW 5-speed box was available only behind the 173 (2.85) in the VH series. In the VK the 173 (2850) was not available (in Australia anyway), but the BW 5-speed was available |

yeah...if I had have just looked 3 posts up I would have seen the 173! Too many numbers in my head at the moment.
Either way, presuming the 5speed bolts in with no issues is it a much weaker box then the M21 (hopefully got the right number that time!! |

I dont think they are a huge lot weaker than a M21 but they are weaker and I would never call the all aussie 4spd box strong any way.But as with all gearboxs when the bearings are worn it has less tooth contact and is more likely to go bang if you give it

Hi Guys.
The 3 different manual gearboxes available behind the 202 EST (carby) motor in the VK are the M20 (not M21, that's the close ratio 304/308 box), the MC6 (Filipino) & the M76 BW 5-speed. Given that most VK6 cyls are automatic anyway, all 3 manu |
