I cant get the speedo in my xb coupe to work. I have replaced the speedo cable, i also tried a new speedo gauge and it still dosnt work at all. I was wondering if any 1 can help me out nd let me know wat could b the cause of it not working. It is a 351 with a c4. Could the problem b in the gearbox where the speedo cable plugs into??

Mate, there's not many options left as you've eliminted everything else.

I would suggest you try and disconnect the cable from the speedo end and go for a drive and look to see if the cable is turning.

Are you running the right speedo drive at the end of the cable for the C4

yer im prety sure. i bought a xb v8 auto speedo cable from ford muscle parts. they only sell them as auto or manual cables so i persume it is the correct cable

are you sure you have the cable connected into the speedo properly? they are a bit of a bugger to fit sometimes. If not any of the things listed above it may very well be the drive gear inside the C4 like you think.

yeah cheers 4 all of the help. the problem must b in the drive gear because the inside of the cable dosnt even spin wen the car is driving. wat a pain in the arse of a problem
