ok, could someone please confirm the piston positions for a 350 chev, standing in front , are the piston positions :
right front is piston 1 right 2nd is piston 2 right 3rd is piston 3 right rear is piston 4
left reat is piston 5 left 3rd is piston 6 left 2nd is piston 7 left front is piston 8
ive got $50 on it

To confirm, this is the position to install new pistons , not firing order.

I FOUND OUT SO FYI !!!
Chevrolet V8 Cylinder Positions; Top View Front LEFT 2 4 6 Rear 8 Front RIGHT1 3 5 Rear 7
AND FOR YOU INFO HOLDENS
The cylinder positions are sometimes written on the inlet manifold.

Matt, just look at the engines. It's obvious. One cylinder head 'leads' the other ie one is further forward than the other. One bank is odd, one bank is even. The bank with the head further forward starts as cylinder 1. The other side as cylinder 2. All 2 |

LS1/2 follow the SBC numbering.
GM products have always run the odd & even bank numbering system (so if you look at a crank, all the rod journals are 1-8 sequentially.
I think it is some ford or mopar units that number them 1-4 & then 5-8 down each |
