Hi All, I have put a HZ GTS dash in my WB ute. I am having problems with the temperature and fuel gauge, giving incorrect readings - both are reading at the lower end of the gauge. Have checked the gauges manually, check earths etc etc. My next stop is checking the ballast resistor -
Can anyone tell me where i can find it! It's driving me up the wall...
Any input would be greatly appreciated
cheers Leigh

Is there a strap from the battery -ve to the body? This missing throws out resistive style guages. The ballast resistor doesn't exist in a WB, and wouldn't affect your dash anyway.

Check the resistance from the -ve terminal to somewhere metal on the shell eg a point where there is a -ve connetion to the body (RHS door pillar on a WB is a good spot). The -ve strap may be bad, or it's connection may be bad. Note that it's not an earth |

Make sure you are using the correct sender unit for the dash.

Is the negative wire off the gauges earthed ? There should be a couple of black wires which earth to the cluster frame near the clock . If they aren't there the guages wont work
