Hi All,
I have put a HZ GTS dash in my WB ute.
I am having problems with the temperature and fuel gauge, giving incorrect readings - both are reading at the lower end of the gauge.
Have checked the gauges manually, check earths etc etc.
My next stop is checking the ballast resistor -

Can anyone tell me where i can find it! It's driving me up the wall...

Any input would be greatly appreciated

cheers
Leigh

Is there a strap from the battery -ve to the body? This missing throws out resistive style guages.
The ballast resistor doesn't exist in a WB, and wouldn't affect your dash anyway.

Check the resistance from the -ve terminal to somewhere metal on the shell eg a point where there is a -ve connetion to the body (RHS door pillar on a WB is a good spot). The -ve strap may be bad, or it's connection may be bad. Note that it's not an earth

Make sure you are using the correct sender unit for the dash.

Is the negative wire off the gauges earthed ? There should be a couple of black wires which earth to the cluster frame near the clock . If they aren't there the guages wont work
