I believe C4's are a very highly regarder transmission and can be beefed up to handle quite decent horsepower.
I will be using one behind the 351 in my XB Coupe eventually.

As long as the box is in good condition I think it would handle a 351W quite w

Yep, bolts straight in. If you can get a nine inch for $300 you've scored well although if it needs rebuilding you can at least double that price.

The cheapest way to get one these days is to buy an ZF/ZG Fairlane (351) and wreck it.

thanks munromad for all your help. one more question though.. been ringing around looking for a 351 and some people have told me that i'll have a bit of a problem with the exhaust manifold. for simplicity is it worth just getting a 302 or is fitting a 351

289 and 302 windsor fit easy into XPs bit clevelands dont fit cause clevelands are too wide and hit on the towers and that is the same for 351 windsors

sorry didn't quite understand. will the 351w will hit the towers as well or will it fit easily? how would you go about fitting it? is it just a case then of different engine mounts or a bit more complex than that?

A 351 windsor will hit the towers and you have to modify the towers
