Can anyone tell what the width of these diffs are from the outside of the axle flange on both sides. Are sedan and ute or 1 tonner diffs different?

All the same width when fitted with drums. The disc brake examples are narrower from flange to flange to allow for the discs being thicker than drums. However if you measure the overall width with discs and drums in place they are the same. With the exce Edited by user Wednesday, 17 January 2007 3:19:29 AM(UTC)

Do I understand correctly that 1 tonner axles will drop straight into a ute / panelvan / stationwagon etc housing and centre?

Definitely yes. The only difference is the tonner axles are a lot thicker, even though the splines are identical, plus of course the wider bearing retainer. And also keep the front yoke off the tonner diff. Use an adapter uni right now to adapt the tonner Edited by user Wednesday, 17 January 2007 5:30:45 PM(UTC)

Housings are the same. Disc brake axles are shorter, achieved by machining the bearing surface further into the flange/neck and cutting some of the end off. Basically they sit further in towards the centre, but when the discs are put on the track is ident |

Will a 1 tonner salisb diff fit under a HK-HG sedan? I say this because the 1 tonner still use the leaf springs and look ideticle to the HK-HG salisbury diffs. The diff length maybe different though.

IIRC HQ-WB salisbury diffs are about 25mm wider than HK-HG 10-bolt. They use the same drum brakes except for stud pattern, and the leaf spring mounts are very different. VB-VK 5litre and VB rally car Salisbury diffs are about 25mm narrower than HK-HG 10-b |

Yoke is the same width as normal V8. Difference is the uni cup size. Normal V8 is 1". 1-ton and 350 HQ are 1.125".
As for tailshaft, yes and no. TH400 tailshaft is different length to manual. TH350 will interchange but from memory is slightly longer. T |
