OK so I need a new floor in the HJ cab (with HQ complete front), also it looks as though the inner and outer sills are shot to pieces (as are a couple of the cab mounts). I have been given a WB ute shell with very little rust, I am thinking of putting the tonner cowl and rear quarters on the WB, I figure there would be less work in swapping the rear quarters than patching up the HJ floor, sills and cab mounts?

I have already replaced the HJ chassis due to rust, so there will probably be alot more under what looks like a reasonably recent paint(and bog) job

Has anyone here done anything similar and maybe could lend a few words of experience, advice or opinions?

Cheers all,

Terry

It looks daunting, but removing the ute quarters and tray isn't that hard. In the end the only difference between a HQ ute cab and a HQ tonner cab is the quarters, sill length, the piece under the rear window and the two infill pieces between the back of

Thanks Byron, sounds pretty straight forward with the rear. The WB cowl has had one corner section removed, can I just swap the HJ corner sections rather than the whole piece? , as for the HJ it has had an nissan LD28 and 5spd put in, how do I differentia

If it's a WB cab it will already have HJ-HZ dash mounts so there is no need to change anything. You can still run a HJ dash (which is basically the same as a WB) by using a HX or HZ harness. A HJ cab is easily picked from a HQ by the big plug on the firew
