Not a great choice of diff for a 5speed. 3.36 or 3.55 would be a better choice. 3.36 with a 0.85: 5th gives you an effective diff ratio of about 2.85:1 in top gear. 3.55 equates to about 3:1. With the 2.78 you are looking at about 2.36:1. By effective dif

My speedo never worked but was about 2700. 3.08 w/t700 is usually 2200.
Go to your local wreckers and ask. HX & HZ 253 4speed kingers are usually fitted w/3.55 or 3.36 gears, you are better off getting the whole diff and fitting that.
