Well we got there after a little bit of drama. I met Jason Hall at his house at 4.45 am saturday morning we were heading for Tamworth Rod Run.
we left around 5am and arrived at 10.45   . yes we had a small hurdle to get over but we finally got there, normal trip would of taken only 3 and a half hours cruising at 110, but for the dramas to follow it ended up taking 5 hours 45 min's and not one of our cars missed a beat :D
we arrived in musslebrook at 6.45 am and refueled, i was happy to have driven for over an hour and only need to put $15 in my tank to refill it to full.
we then headed for Aberdean then Scone then on to Murrurundi, when I recerived a text message from Revehead.
Revhead who's real name is Phil is a guy I met last year at a run in Murrurundi, he is also a new member of ozrodders.com
His text message read like this..........Highway blocked at willow tree. b double overturned full of fuel.
blocked for a while.
I rang Jason, who was just in front of me and asked him to pullover as I had some bad news about the road ahead.
we stopped and were deciding what to do.
there was me in my Vauxhall.
Jason in his new tudor.
and junkyard driving Jasons fathers 34 roadster.
I rang Revhead and asked him if he knew of another way around the accident sceen.
he said there was a way but the road was not fit for a rod and it would most likley be best to just hang around and wait until the accident had been cleared. I knew that there was no way that they were going to clean up the accident site anytime soon, as the b double had spilt over 85,000 litres of petrol and deisel over the road, and was still leaking everywhere. so phil said he would drive out to where we were and give us directions.
a short time later I heard the noise of a V8 engine roaring over the hill. we looked up and sure enougth it was Revhead, he was driving his chev roadster pickup, he pulled up along side us and just stared at Jasons Tudor like he was in shockshock:...........man how the f.......do you see where you are f..... n going out of that, he just stood there with a smile a mile wide like he was in a trance
after a rew moments he said..........theres no way im going to recomend you going on this back road i know, man not in that car wow how the f.... do you see out of that thing.........laugths again  that things lower than a..............oh man that things kool 8)
Jason turned around and says......Iv come this far......I built it to drive.......... now wheres this road your talking about.
Revhead says...............its just up over the hill. but man its got about 15k's of dirt about half ways along it and its got some of the biggest pot holes this side of airs rock........you really don't want to drive that car along that road.
Jason says...............hey phil its kool 8) its going to get stone chips sooner or later , so nows as good as any to start getting them........this is Jasons first Rod Run in this car which is on its maiden run.
Revhead says..........ok but don't say i didn't tell yah.
So we say our good byes and Revhead says he will see us up there tomorrow, sunday
he bids us farwell and a safe journy and smokes the tyres down the road and out of site.
So were back in our Rods and back on the road, just a few k's up the road we turn off onto a very narrow pot hole filled road, but at least it is seald bitumun, we follow this road for about 60k's then turn onto a very narrow dirt road, after about 20 yards I decide to sit back a bit as I could hardley see jasons black tudor through the dust...................it was like talcum powder and was as least a foot deep there were hidden potholes lots of gravel but mostley dust and lots of it............as we got further along the road the dust got thicker and dustier..........I started to drop back even further as i was having real trouble trying to see where i was going, then the car hit a rut and swung side ways..........here i was travelling at 60 to 70 k's going sideways and all i could see was dust, I just couldn't pull the car out of the rut. then a big gust of wind came accross the road and i could just make out Jasons car in the distance
I could see the flames on the side of his car............he was also stuck in the rut and driving sideways  then everything was dark again as the dust got even thicker i could only see about 2 feet in front of me......I was driving blind..........still doing about 60k's I didn't want to slow down as I knew that somwhere behind me was a 34 roadster and his veiw would have been no better than mine, if i slow down he would end up in the back of me................then all of a sudden out of know where appears a bloody big bull bar..................sh..... ..........its a b double, .....here i am still going sideways and stuck in the rut.......stones flying everywhere, I could here them bouncing off my front gaurds and doors, and all i could think about was Jasons Tudor and that beautifull flame job being ruined with stone chips..........45 mins and three trucks five cars later we hit bitumun once again we were now able to pick up the pace a little and return to speeds of up to 110 , we arrived at a small town and stopped to survay the damage and to re-fuel.
the Tudor had a few small stone chips that were in the clear and as the car has yet to be buffed should buff out.
my front gaurds ended up with a few more and my back gaurds had turned almost white at the bottoms but i was going to paint them after this trip anyways so no real damage done.
the roadster scored only a few smallish ones and survived ok as well.
I refueled and this time It cost me $35  thats twice as much as the last time, we had travelled 100k's past Tamworth and now had to double back down, we arrived at 10.45am and the guys were all waiting for us as they had received phone calls telling them we were making our way through the bush to get there and could be a little late. when we drove into the tavern Jasons Tudor was swarmed like bees as everyone jossled to get a pick of one of the biggest chopped Tudors in the country.
the windscreen is 65mm in the centre and the rego lable just fits in the corner, It was way kool to go cruising in it saturday night around Tamworth, and iv never seen so many heads almost twist off there soulders as we drove through town
heres a couple of pics
cheers barnsey
