Hey Guys
I just Picked up a second hand window and I need to remove the aftermarket tint film thats on it.
What is the easiest way to get it off?

If it's a side window ie no rear demister the best way is to peel the tint then scape the glue off with one of those scrapers that takes razor blades then metho & a rag or if your brave metho & some coarse steel wool.

Alternatively, lay the window down and cover with wet newspaper for about ½ an hour to an hour (if the weather is hot, you may need to re-wet the newspaper). Then peel the tint off and clean up as Jim said above. Cheers...Dave Edited by user Saturday, 17 February 2007 4:45:17 AM(UTC)

Use steel wool if you like scratched glass.
The other ideas work well enough.

John coarse scourers wont scratch the glass if you are carefull ie don't press too hard but I do agree with you on the steel wool issue. Those green plastic scourers are the worst for scratching glass.

Hi Guys. Picked this up from a site yesterday, knew it would be useful eventually!
Removing old window tint-: First bits easy, peel up an edge with a razor blade & rip the film off!!...now that darn glue is still stuck to the glass!!

Hi I used to work for a windscreen fitting company and was across the road from the motor registration branch who sent us all there defected for tint cars .
The easiest way we found Was (as Stated) peel an edge then use a new (save on scratches)single ed

Here's a little tip you might all like to know. With gooey stuff on glass try using eucalyptus oil and a clean cloth. This works great for getting the last of the sticky stuff off.
