Sort of, but not really.

A flywheel is used with a manual transmission. It has the ring gear (for the starter to engage) around the outside as well as mountings for the Pressure Plate. They are reasonably thick.

A flexplate also has the ring gear at

So if i am going to fit an auto box, i use a flexplate ?

Yep...

If you get the chance to see the 2 side by side, the difference is obvious.

Flywheel weighs about 10kg, flexplate (or torque plate) weighs about 1.
They are interchangeable but you would only interchange if you are going manual to auto or auto to manual.
