Hey there , i have just recently acquired my 73 xb fairmont coupe after 6 month of looking and looking. Car is in very good condition on the inside with only a few minor repairs to get it back to original :)
Outside is ok , has minor rust in front l/h quater and rear r/h , also some in the back boot seal around the four corners .
Engine in it atm is a 6 cyl 250 . Now when i got the car it came with many many parts including 351 clevo , c4 auto , nearly all windows except front ,guages etc etc , i have a s&*t load of them !
Now my plan is to rip the old 250 out throw the clevo in , the old c4 that is in it will come out and i will replace it with a four speed , also the 8" will have to go and a 9" replacement put in.
Now to my questions....
1.Is it a matter of replacing the 250 with the 351 , will it need to be engineered ? Previous owner told me that he had the 351 in it at one stage.
2.Rust repair in back boot seal , what is the best product to use for this ? Most people are telling me to use fiberglass or get it re-welded , anyone had to repair the channel before ?
3.If anyone has a 4 speed and or 9" diff that they may want to sell / swap for parts please email me at
[email protected]Im sure my list of questions will get bigger , if anyone is looking for any xb coupe parts hit me up , i am going to make a list of all the parts when i get a chance .
Any help will be much appreciated , also would be good to hear from anyone that has restored a coupe .
Thanks
Mal.
