I have a 6 cyl XC Falcon 500 3 speed coloumn auto and I want to convert it to a V8. I found a ZH Fairlane that has a 351 on straight LPG in it and I want to swap everything into my XC sedan as the fairlane body is shot. Is this an easy procedure? Should I also transplant the ZH front suspension/brakes into the XC as well? Does it have different springs? Or should I rebuild the XC front end using aftermarket shocks/springs etc? I want to tighten the handling up as much as I can(within reason and budget).
I'm assuming the ZH has a LSD so I want to put that into the XC too (also has rear disks)...should I swap the brake booster/master cylinder too? or keep my XC one ? The Zh has a C4 I think?, my XC has a FMX ?? I"m assuming all the gear shift stuff will fit as the ZH is also a 3 speed coloumn shift auto ?
What about sway bars ? are they worthwhile ? I'm not going racing..I just want to increase handling and braking performance as much as I can. Can you fit bigger rotors easily ?..do they cost a bucketload? or should I fit the stock brakes front and rear?
How can I tell if the 351 is actually a 351 ? 2v or 4v ? What is better ? Will extractors make a difference ? How do 351's go on gas ? it was converted in 2000 and I'm assuming it has gas heads but I don't know for sure.
What are the "gotchas" in this process if any?
Sorry for all the questions but with the exception of a XL I owned years ago I"ve been a Holden man so am unsure about the Fords.

Thanks for your time!

WOW, just a few questions. LOL. OK I'll give it a shot.
Everything should pretty much swap straight over except the tail shaft. The ZH tailshaft is longer but you might be able to put the unis and yoke on 6 cyl tail shaft and use that. Don't forget

Wow..thank you so much !

Fuel-line isn't a drama as I'm running straight LPG.

So it'd be best to use the trans out of the ZH? I thought it would be easier as it's all bolted up to the engine already.
I might go buy some aftermarket lowered front sp

OK I can tell the difference between a BW, C4 or FMX but I buggered if I can think of a way to describe it. You could Google something like "transmission pan gaskets".

As for the BW Vs 9" that's easy. The Borg Warner diff is a Salisbury type with a tin

Suspension stuff to check is upper and lower ball joints, idler arm, tie rods, sway bar bushes and saddle bushes.
Stick the car on a hoist and have a look. It's all the same stuff with the 6 cyls and V8s. Prices on replacement stuff vary depending on

Go with the XC GXL/GS bonnet. XCs never had lock down pins like the XB GT bonnet. Where are you located? They pop up on ebay quite often. You might as well put in a sports dash and get the XC GS/GXL fuel cap. Fairmont/GXL grille and headlights looks

The body is fine..it's just the right hand front fender and the bumper that's been pushed in.

To fix it you'd need a new fender and a new front clip thing..you know?...the guy who owned it just ran into another car on a wet road after work and banged t
