Hi Guys, Its time for a motor for mums HR, I would like to use an injected 6 cyl and auto so that it is easy for my wife to drive and reasonably economical. My first thought was a commy V6, but can anyone tell me anything about the VK injected motor, or the VL RB30. To save heaps of modifying which would be the better one to use, and what auto options do I have, because I wouldnt mind any overdrive if it was possible... Also can anyone tell me if there's much weight difference between the two. any help would be appreciated.

The VK injected motor will bolt straight into a HR, no major mods needed at all.
You can even put the head and injection of the VK injected motor on the HR motor with some small mods.
If you are getting someone else to do all the wiring mods for inj |

If you can do the vast majority of the conversion yourself, an RB30 and JATCO auto are a good swap. I'd think the T700 auto on the back of a V6 would be a bit big for the HR Trans tunnel, but I haven't done it so can't be positive.
As Peter said above,

Actually when you start talking auto as well, it wont really cost any more to fit a Trimatic as fitted to the VK behind the VK motor, but no overdrive.
If you were to fit the Commodore V6, you could have a 4 speed auto with overdrive. With the V6 you w |

the vl is a lot more powerful and economical but is also a lot more expensive for parts and harder to service yourself. I don't know where the prices mentioned above come from. You can pick up a complete VK Calais injected car for less than $500, you are

The trimatic as fitted to the original VK injected 6 had the same clutchpacks as the 253 Trimatic. The EH Limo www.ehlimo.com.au has an original 186 block with VK head, injection and auto fitted to make similar to original VK inj power and torque. I would |

I found the economy about 2 or 3mpg more with the injected motor, but power was considerably more. You can use the injectors you get with the injected motors, they are stainless steel and quite good. I forgot to mention that if you just fit the VK motor

thanks for all the tips guys, couple more q's... besides the engine no. thing what is the benifit of using say a 186 block rather than the whole VK six. Emission control and engineers reports are pretty easy ouer here, so that dont really factor into it.

Weights are the same. The block is virtually the same. You can build the same motor. No emmissions required in Victoria if using a pre 1976 block. |
