Gidday all.
Have picked up the 186s to go into my monaro.
Would anyone know around what year a motor number with 186s217*** came out .

Hi charlie.

I'm on holiday at the moment & haven't got access to my files, but that number is probably a late '69 HT.

The block casting date would pinpoint that more accurately. The casting number that matters is near the oil filter.

The numbers and or letters are as follows=
HOLDEN under that a (Q or G) 29 then a screw with a clock and an arrow that points between the 4 and 6 followed by a 4 on its own.

That would be a 2nd of July 1969 casting date. Q would not have been used. The clock is a batch pouring reference and not the time.

So iv'e done OK as the Monaro i have is a HG built october 1970.
How did you get the date above from the numbers i gave ????

For early Holden casting dates the US style is used where the alpha character represents the month, the last number is the last number of the year and the other number(s) are the day of the month.
A=Jan, B=Feb etc, I is skipped.
