Hi iitsmint.

I have exactly this combination in my HZ One Tonner. The TH700 is not only further forward than the TH400 & Tri-Matic, but it's also much lower down. I used a TH350 crossmember & mounted it around 40mm further back to line up with the moun

what motor/diff ratio are you running with T700
Did you get T700 rebuilt or did you just buy one from wreckers....?

Hi Muskell.

I used a standard 5.0 EFI/TH700R4 out of an early VP. I left the motor stock (I wanted good torque & economy), just swapped the mounts, sump & oil pick-up & just put a kit through the auto. It's always cheaper & easier to overhaul the auto

Alot depends on opinion I guess...I've asked a couple of automatic specialists and they have said its pretty ordinary. Yarra valley auto's Melb (Tony Spooner ) is one. Probably alot depends on how it is thrashed.

On the above note, I have a Hadfield cr

TH700R4 does get a bad rap, but if treated properly they are OK. I think the biggest problem with early ones is towing in 4th. They are nowhere near as tough as a TH400, but they can be built to be very strong. The later versions of the box are quite good
