Looking at buying this car and would appreciate some help working out what all these codes mean.

vin tag 8C69RG J546077X

main tag model LX8VC69
body 546077m
trim 1900-67y
paint 567-15946
eng l32
trans M40
axle GU7

Other tag build 10-76
BLX023328m

Stamped on chassis BLX023328M

and if im not pushing my luck the engine no is QT911763. Could someone tell me what model car it’s from? the owner told me it’s not the original motor.

Thanks in advance

Its an LX SL Sedan Dandenong built with a 173 6 cylinder.

The trans code on the passenger side plate will tell you what the gearbox or auto is, M20 or Trimatic.
The axle code is for the diff ratio.

Quarter Horse.
You have listed G as between sept 76 and Aug 77.
why is this so?
i.e why not G = 76 only?
and H for 77 only?
Great web site.

The year codes run from 1 Sep to 31 Aug each year, so for LHs etc

D= Sep 73 to Aug 74
E= Sep 74 to Aug 75
F= Sep 75 to Aug 76
G= Sep 76 to Aug 77

etc

Unless its been altered, an SLR5000 will be 8D69T on the VIN plate and 8VD69 on the BODY plate with L31 as the ENG designation.

An L34 is also an SLR5000 with a 8D69Z... VIN with the same Model No and an L34 Engine Code on the Body Plate.

As is an A9X, but harder to pick from codes alone.

you need the model codes , driveline codes alone cannot correctly identify a car.
all 5 litre 4spd should be m21, G70 is 2:60 diff ratio which would give good top end speed.It would need a good amount of power to get off the line though.

Hmmm. G70 is 2.60:1, which was only available on LX SLR5000 A9X. M20 - are you sure? Email me the VIN number (long skinny plate) and i'll check for you to see if it is an A9X. If the plates aren't bodgied up something is wrong. AFAIK A9X's only had M21 or
