guys, what would be a welcome addition to the rear of my VK? at the moment it has standard drums, but i want discs for the rebuild in anticipation of fitting a V8. Yeh ive thought about a VT rear upgrade, but the cost is very high. Are the V8 standard brakes any good? ive heard weird stories about them. and are the VL turbo front calipers a good upgrade from the standard fronts, and will they bolt up no probs?

I think the rear discs remained the same from VB through to the end of 2000 on the VSIII ute. Basically if you convert your VK to a 5litre you'll have to upgrade to a 10-bolt Salisbury (unless you want to be chewing up 6cyl diffs) and on a Commodore thes |

Im not 100% sure, but if you use the VL diff they use the same centre as the later commodores AFAIK. The front brakes are bigger on a VL V8 or turbo, but I think the rears are the same as all other pre VT.

No. You wont have any trouble finding some though. I think they are the same from VB to VSIII, regardless of 6cyl or V8 - anyone confirm?

Hi Guys.
Yes, the rear disc set-up remained basically unchanged from VB to VS III, with a few exceptions. Ignore the HSV 'Premium' package, (VN Group A, SV5000 etc) these use 2-piston calpiers & vented disc rotors. Also IRS cars disc rotors are slightl |
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

Nothing. Terry is just telling you that the backing plate of the disc hub changed after VL. The calipers are the same.

Alex I would say that you will need a custom tailshaft to go from a VK 5 speed box to a V8 diff. Also if you upgrade to the VL turbo/V8 front calipers you will also have to upgrade your front wheels to 15" minimum.
I believe that any VP2 has these b |

No you don't need a custom tail shaft if your VK has a Borgy diff(late 85 on). You can separate the tailshafts where they bolt together with the allen key bolts. Then you can fit the 5 speed front section to a V8 or EFI 6 rear section. This will bolt up
