I know you have all been waiting, for another pearler of a question, from yours truly, here tis,
how does and air conditioner unit, compress the gas??
is it like a nail gun compressor, with a little piston, or some other mechanical way of compressing the gas?
thanks already

They are a rotary compressor. There are several types of rotary compressor, and a supercharger is one of them also. They are a lobe or screw type. The air conditioner unit would be an eccentric rotor type I would assume.

I thought of doing this a while ago to pump up tyres quickly, but it has a flaw in that the aircon compressor gas contains the lubricating oil.
If you can devise a lubricating method it should be ok I think. Maybe a drip feed somehow.

As far as triggers go, there is a kit that jaycar sell that turns the air-con OFF when under full throttle. Im sure it wouldnt take a rocket scientist to work out how to mod a kit like that to make it turn on when the h.brake is engaged and off when dise

The old style compressors like those on the hq etc were a piston type unit which would be ideal for this purpose, I have a couple of them I picked up at the local rubbish type to experiment with. they look like a lawn mower engine. in fact a lawn mower or

he he Have you been on the bizarro juice or something?
where would you store the air till you need it?
Anyway just remembered the small engine would have to be 4 stroke as 2 strokes dont have sump for oil, so chainsaws definitely out.
