Early 253s had dome top pistons, are sure way to increase the compression. This way you dont have to shave the head or block. New valve guides would also help the top end lubrication problems with ULP. You can put big valve or VN heads on if you want to r |
You only have to be in front at the end of the race. |

Other way round. Late red 253's had the high comp pistons. Early ones were flat top.

Hi John,
For all the suggestions getting more grunt from a 253... Why even bother..!!
The price of a good running 308 is so cheap these days that it would cost a lot more to start dicking around with a wantabe V8 like the 253...
Simply buy a seco

Theres lots of ways.....I think really it's all about how much money you want to spend.
1. put 5 litre VN heads and injection on it.Wait another 3 years for LPG injection to be half the price it is now ($4000).
2. You want to run LPG....so put 4 b

I havn't heard of boring them out to 292.....but I could easily be wrong. I meant stroking them out....which ends up being 88mm stroke and about 92mm for the 253 std bore.....this is a lot closer to the "ideal" square bore and stroke configuration.

I dont think you have to go overboard all you need in my opinion is a cam and extractors.. Cam is the cheapest way to increase horsepower.. You dont need to go to extravagant.. Simple is best. Cause im kind of simple.. Now dont answer that lol
