Hi all, i will be using a Turbo 400 behind a 220... ish HP 307 built for torque, standard rams horn manifolds, 450 cfm carb , 9.00 compression, gas with suitable cam 1800 - 4500 ..standard chev heads shaved zero deck block..etc.... and a .308 Diff.( Hg Van )... can someone tell me what my chev will rev at at say ,100 klm... and how will it go with the 400 ratios...? I have heard that the 350 box ratios are better? Why ? This Van is just for general cruising and hi way driving... also , what will the 400 stall speed be with this combo? Not sure how much torque it will make.. same as a standard 307 i guess..

TH400 is 248 1st, 1.48 2nd, 1.0 top gear. TH350 is 2.52 1st, 1.52 2nd, 1.0 top. Not much difference! I have been told that a TH400 soaks up a bit more HP because they use overrunning sprags and clutch packs instead of bands and clutches, but I couldn

HG? May be cheaper to go for the T350 short snout (common). use original tailshaft, have to modify crossmember though. and slightly smaller to fit T350 into HG transmission tunnel than a T400 (Larger diameter). SOme of the early T350's have a cable ki |

Terry Cut and paste off another web page. This is probably why Holden stopped using them in WB and VH: The pre-81 TH350 uses a detent cable to activate the gearshifts and passing-gear kickdown. Hi Guys.
Yes, I've heard of the TH350C, but they were only made for less than 2 years & I've never actually seen one. The 'normal' TH350 was made for 12 years.
I knew the TH350C had a lock-up converter but did not know they had no cable kickdown.

It was news to me too, and like you I knew of the lockup converter but not the electric kickdown. I've often heard of a TH200 with a lockup converter too.
