hi people have xc gs and i beleive it has had a 351 put in it apposed to its original 302 can anyone help me with engine no verification the number is ALIJSL435C51 any help would be great

i have done some research on this number and all i can seem to find is that ac cobras from 66-68 had a alijsl engine number but would like some sought of confirmation as ford cant help me....

OK, process of elimination here. Going by the engine code I'm guessing this puppy is a US sourced engine. Seeing as how no 302 Clevelands were made in the US it's a pretty sure bet that the motor is a 351. We are talking Clevelands here and not Windsor

quick way to tell. Top radiator hose, does it go into the inlet manifold or into the block? Manifold is Windsor and block is clevo.

the engine has an F series truck engine code. The engine will be from a F100 or F250. Winsors have the radiator hose going to the manifold. Clevo's dont run water in the manifold. XB Fairmont sedan : [email protected] |

Hi i have the same problem as you robbo. Ford couldn't give me ny info but ive been told it could be out of an f100.

This should help
The VIN on the engine or car will be 6 characters long, for example, JG63UM or AL1JYM. These are decoded as follows;
First character = Product source. A = USA, C = UK, J = Australia and S = Japan. Am not sure what U is, could be Th

This one doesn't quite make sense as there were no LTD's made at the Brisbane plant in 1973. That is, N = 1973. Your number should be JG71NA not JH71NA. In othere words, you have either got the 71 wrong or the year wrong.

mate i found out it is actually JH71UA 42566K
and do u know why some xd to xf have a hole or some have a plate tak welded over it on the top pannel between the shoky tower and wher the guards bolt on up towards the fire wall on the right hand side
