iam rebuilding a 202 and i would like to give it a hone before i fit the new rings can anyone tell me how tom go about it




iam rebuilding a 202 and i would like to give it a hone before i fit the new rings and pistons i would like to give it a go myself i like to learn anyone got any tips? cheers

Hi Buy a hone that goes on the drill. Check the top of the bore as there maybe a lip and if you put new rings on these could hit the lip. I borrowed a lip remover from a nice engine reconditioner back when I did mine. The lip is caused by wear in the bore
If its not broke it will be soon

Buy some "file to fit" rings to get a better gap if you are just re-ringing.
The location of the rings in relation to each other, the leading edge and gap are all important factors.

use kerosine for honing, run the hone up and down as it rotates so that you see a cross hatch pattern in the bore. stop the drill before removing the hone if it is one of the hones with a grinder stone in it, if the drill is still rotating you risk breaki
