my brother found me a 4 speed, complete conversion from flywheel to pedals etc. the thing that through me off was he said it was an m22. i was under the impression an m22 was a 6 cylinder gearbox, he said it was a factory 1 tonner gearbox behind a 253. can anyone tell me the input shaft length so my brother doesnt get me a 6 cylinder gearbox by mistake.

i dont really care if it's an m20 or m21 just want to make sure i dont get a 6 cylinder one. as i cant see this gearbox i need to tell my brother to measure input shaft length for me.

m22 gearbox had a very low first gear 3.74:1 ratio , being that low it is most likly out of a 1 tonner more like a 6 than a 8 thou , but not dead sure on that..,..

Corey13.If you look here http://gallery.oldholden...d/P6230013_001.jpg.html I have a pic that gives you a measurement and shows the difference between the two input shafts and retainers.

If you are buying the whole conversion also be careful that its from the same model as yours eg if yours is a HQ you really want HQ etc. Differences in pedal setups, clutch mechanisms etc are a pain in the proverbial. The M22 is the best box to get in my
