Hi,
I need some help, i was puuting in a new speedo cable and the nylon drive has fallen into the extension housing cavity. Would it be safe to drive it to a mechanic so the extesion housing can be removed and retrieve the drive?
Also can someone tell what the different colors mean with the nylon drive, transmission trimatic.
Many Thanks

diferant colours is diferant speedo ratios for your diferant diff ratios so that you have correct speedo reading. I drove around in a HQ with a trimatic and i found a peice of rag stuck in the extension housing along with a metal clip and it never hurt it
Havent you learnt anything from that guy that gives sermons at church?...Captain whats his name.

the actual speedo drive is a gear fitted on to the main gearbox drive shaft. it is held on by a sort of hairpin clip with a tiny hook that holds on to a dimple on the shaft. The hook breaks off and the drive slides along the shaft allowing the cable drive

Actually found the one I dropped in the extension and another that was there from previous owner, which was mashed up. All is well.
