how hard is it to go from red 202 to black 3.3 power? is it just bolt in and run wires or is there major work involved?

Not hard. No major work other than exhaust. If you don't have the exhaust for the black, you need some 12 port extractors

Hi hgkid1.

You haven't actually said what car this is going into, but I will assume from your name, it's an HG.

If you're going to put a Black carby motor into an HG, use the HG engine's harness. It's only about 5 wires or so, anyway.

And youll need to bypass the in-harness resistance to run the black motors coil. Plus change the thermostat housing to the red motors one, and use a different fan and spacer if you keep the black motors water pump.
If you are to change the flywheel/flex

I put a 3.3 efi in the EH Limo. The physical engine bolts in, once we changed the sump and oil pickup to EH, but there is so much more once you go efi. We used the efi wiring loom and computer, also had to put efi fuel pump, swirl pot, return fuel line, s

HG 3-speed is externally almost identical to the aussie 4spd. Red 149 through to injected 3.3 EFI are also block wise physically identical so it will bolt straight up to your bellhousing. Aussie 4spd will also bolt onto your bellhousing but needs some flo

Wiring is easy to do yourself.
Mechanical linkage is a bit of a problem. Probably best to convery to a pedal off a HJ-WB. I'm actually considering a GenIII into my HK 6cyl GTS at the moment, and the way around the cable throttle issue I have come up with

to avoid the rego problems use your original red block and convert everything off the efi motor you will have to drill 4 holes in the top of the block to use the ehad but it all fits and you keep your original engine number.

Thanks that does sounds like a really good idea. Now to find a red block that isn’t stuffed do I still use the same crank and pistons and rods does this mean I do not have to modify the exhaust system if I keep the red block in there?. Will the engine fun

It all bolts into the red 202. Just make sure it's a rope rear main seal 202. Early ones were neoprene seals and blue/black cranks are rope. Red and blue/black blocks are basically identical except for the 3 or 4 water jacket holes mentioned before where
