For that reason i'd keep it as original as possible, and keep the original engine and box complete and untouched so that it can be changed back if necessary.

Yes I will be keeping it as original as possible paint, moulds and interior will stay as per production. It still has the original hood trim in it by the looks so thats the way it will stay. Does the 350 gear box bolt in with out any modifications to the

Yes. Use a HK V8 powerglide gearbox crossmember with original spacers, HT/G trimatic t-bar, aftermarket kickdown cable and coolant lines. You might have to get a longer V8 Powerglide speedo cable made so that you dont have to drill a V8 speedo cable hole
