I am lowering my Tonner and do not want to use lowering blocks between the the springs and axle. I have been told that if I take one of the smaller leaves from the spring set and invert it on top of the spring set then clamp them together, this will lower the entire profile of the spring set and achieve my aim of lowering the vehicle.
Can anybody tell me if this idea is an acceptable way to lower the car.
The other way I understand is to send the springs to a shop and have them re tempered and reset. I was hoping to avoid that expense.

Just a word of advice on lowering HQ-WB too much. If you try to go much more than about an inch in the front, try to only use 6 or 7" rims and pretty low profile tyres, or the tryes will scrub on the guards. I always found that the nicest driving HQ-WB ar

If you have a V8 you could use 6 cylinder springs for the front, thanks byron on that bit about using ute/van springs i might do that to mine, as it is now its bloody stiff as a board in the rear end with the standard tonner springs

Tahnks for your comments. I have used 50mm offset stub axles on the front to lower the front but anm seeking advice about flattening the rear springs to lower it. What do you think of the idea of inverting one of the samller leaves on top of the spring se

I wouldnt do it full stop. But it does sound like it might work, but isnt it basically the same as lowering blocks? If you dont want lowering blocks, what about building taller leaf spring mounts on the diff and using longer U-bolts. Again the same thing

are there lighter front springs for a hq 6 to give a softer ride ? cheers
