Remember that all Holden 6cyl cranks were forged prior to 1967. The 253 and 308 would have been well into development stage by that time particularly since the Holden V8 was supposed to be ready earlier than it was. So putting 2 and 2 together it would ma

Thank's byron. so it's a fact that, 308 hp blocks have, 308 on the crank. not hp on the crank. mine being the exeption to the rule. my block date coad was E189 18/5/69. I have seen a E199 on e bay. i thought it was wrong seeing 7/7/69 as being regared as

I've never seen an early 308 engine with HP on the crank, only 308. But I haven't seen too many. Remember that HP didn't change to 308 on the side of the blocks overnight either. I reckon that they waited for the original moulds to wear out before it got

But without dissassembling an engine, just because it has HP on the side gives no proof of crank type? Yeah?

I have a report of a J269, 26/sep/1969, with a 308 casting on the block. any one got a date past this date with V8, HP block.
