my LC GTR has a gearbox which has a second shift lever for reverse, I am told only 5 were put in production LC GTR`s . Can anyone verify this?

It sounds like you have an Aussie 4 speed box with a shifter designed for a 3 speed box so a second lever has been added to the one linkage that only does one gear (reverse).
Do you have photo's of this shifter?

Hi Gibbo.
You have been fed BS.
What you have there is a Speco aftermarket shifter designed for any Holden Aussie 4-speed.
A company like Holden would not build only 5 of anything to go into production.

2/71 Date of manufacture . I was told they were developed for racing and 5 were put in production cars as a trial

If your car was built in 2/71 it would have been fitted with an Opel 4 speed in the factory. They were racing GTR XU1s not GTRs so any "experiment" would be on an XU1.
Plus the Aussie 4 speed was still 4 months away, so there would not have been any pr

It depends what your mean by 'original'.
If you fit a factory shifter it will back to factory standard, but that was not 'original' for a 2/71 LC GTR, because the Aussie 4-speed wasn't factory-fitted until 7/71.

It is an opel gearbox in the car. I just had never heard of this before and wanted to confirm it.

One other thing LC GTR XU1`s were introduced in June 1971. this was another factor that had me asking questions about the shift being use on the GTR. GTR`s were raced as well.

I cannot see how yp could have a second lever on an Opel for reverse. There are two rods on an opel, one goes back and forthe, the opther moves a selector in and out. The back and forthe selects 1/2, 3/4 or R and the other moves a rod in and out of the bo
