I say if they don't comply with the law then they should be taken off the road and if anyone thinks this is a little rough than have the vehicle engineered.

When it comes down to it, Fred's on the money as there are to many people out there that think they know better.
When you talk about moments etc, you talking about the force applied as a leverage ie the force is applied at the edge of the tyre over a dis

As for crumple zones and solid cages racing cars do have crumple zones with a solid cage in the middle. Most 70's and 80's Jap cars had crumple zones that started at the front bumper and finished at the back bumper.

When you think about it there is an endless amount of after market products that when you change the slightest thing from factory it gives them a reason to screw you depending on the cop, I've had a cop tell me to get new tyres once and that was it no def

The wider the the track, the greater the force exerted on your wheel bearings. A small increase, lets say 25mm, could increase the forces by the order of 200-300%. How long till the wheel bearing fails going around a corner?

wider tyres are not necessarily safer. on a wet road a wider tyre can aquaplane more, the weight on it per square millimetre is less than the weight per square millimetre of a nrrower tyre.

Let me start by saying i lived on both sides of the fence as a copper and a hoon
they tend to go in spirts with targeting car shows and mostly from the directive from higher up

just a question, if your car does get defected for something you can easily fix, how much does it cost to get it back on the road? assuming it costs nothing to get it back to roadworthy condition
