what do resistor spark plugs do? Can you do without the suppressors and shielded plug leads with the resistor plugs? is there any real advantage to them?

Never heard of them John,
At a guess, I would say you could probably use a straight copper core HT lead with them.

well googled it turns out resistor plugs have been around since the 60s, apparently they are necessary if you have computerised systems and/ or gps etc in your car, as cuts radio interference.
in older cars doesn't matter but does not give best performa

My Eh has the old copper leads that it had when I purchased it 19yrs ago. They dont even have any rubber boots on them. Not sure if thats a factory part or not.

I only had to clean them once as they got corroded, that was after driving about 60000 Mile
If its not broke it will be soon
