gday all just want to know how hard it is to convert my au 6cyl to a 8cyl

Simple, buy a crashed V8 AU and bolt the engine, transmission and engine bay wiring harness in and then replace the 6 cylinder ECU with the V8 one. You will have to use the V8 tacho or get your 6 cyl one re calibrated.

trying again, i will get there one day. just need to know if the tailshaft
from the six will fit?

Yes the tailshaft and diff are essentially the same. you may find that ALL V8's had abs which will be the only difference in the diff.

I know several people who have done this kind of swap and there generally seems to be inherent dramas with computers etc. One option I would be concidering is to chase up an AU XR8. Not only do you get a v8, you also get all the other little things you

looks like this project might be a bit of an expensive exercise maybe i will keep the au6 and spend the money on the fairlane instead.thanks for the reply dmax.
