I have a VS SS Ute and a few people have told me it could be a limited edition with only 300 made. Does anyone know if this is true and where the proof can be found. it is a 99 model and it's definately an SS so any help would be greatly appreciated.

There were 2 types of these. An initial run of 300 (from memory), built pre VT so they had the VS style engine (165kW). They were VS series III only. I think they were available only in Bermuda blue and Metallic black. I'm not sure if they were Phantom by |

Depends if it was type 1 or 2. Type 1 has the rectangular throttle body cover. Type 2 has the rounded one. Factory quoted figures were 165kW type 1 or 179kW type 2, unless they are HBD engines which will be 185kW/195kW respectively.

Thanks again Byron but what do you mean by rounded throttle body cover. Are you referring to the front engine cover plate or the centre section of the throttle body? Also how are the HBD engines identified?
