I have a 20:1 steering box from a bush wreck I want to put in my HG while I sort out the buggered 16:1. Should it be full of grease? What type? If it has leaked out then I guess the seal down at the pitman arm shaft must be US? The bit of grease in there looks OK and the box seems smooth enough.

Thanks

If it seems smooth enough (read: works well) and it's just till you sort your GTS box then it should be ok for a while. Most steer boxes in use today have never had a spanner on them. I've only ever come across one steer box in my life that was stuffed.
