Hey,
I'm thinking of putting a different gearbox in my 2002 Statesman, what options are there for a bit more power but still a nice ride around town? I probably wouldn't bother but the origanal gearbox is feeling a bit sloppy and worn. What sort of price would I be looking at to replace the stock gearbox and would it be heaps more$ for one thats a bit quicker. what sort of KW would an after maket box add.

So I've just bought this car not very long ago and I am looking to customise it, Any recomendations would be great. I'm a first time holden owner and am very happy with my puchase but there are too many cars exactly the same as mine.
This could end up being quite a big project in the end so any Input about posible improvements would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Mick

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

Geeze how things have changed. no change in RWKW with diferent GB? good to know. I will get the ECU programed though, thanks Dr.
But the gear box I think is still a bit worn and will probably need replaceing any way at some stage. Any ideas of cost?

Are you sure the gearbox is sad. Theyre a pretty lazy, soft changing gearbox at the best of times.
Ive always had TH400s and when I bought my VX gen3 I wasnt very impressed with the way the gearbox changed. Or the performance and fuel economy,

my VX SS was the same. after the box died i got a 4L65E put in and set up a cold intake from a Monaro. that was a good power gain for the money. you can buy them for around the $15 mark. much better than SS inductions. its Mafless tuned which cost me $500
