hi, still going through the process of deciding whether to go 350 chev or 355 holden

and 1 of the things i'm wondering is the hp demands of the turbo 350, 400 and the trimatic

i think i remember seeing 18 hp for the trimatic and about 40 hp for the turbo 400, but not sure

Refresh my memory, what do you have now? Not just engine but radiator, exhaust, shifter etc?

I know you have all that other stuff but if it all needs rebuild Id consider selling it and rebuilding the 308 as a 350 (5.7) and building up the trimatic or replacing it with a rebuilt VK or VL box. The TH400 is a very durable box and I would keep it if

i really like the idea of the 350 chev, but as you point out, too many things need converting

ill see what the universe sends my way ( meaning, ill prolly hold out for an hq 308 block for the conversion )

how much power do you want? the trimatic should be great unless you are going for a high horsepower bruiser.

go the sbc the bang for buck in go fast gear cant be matched, the 400's ok but I would try for a kick down type 700 and a worked over 425impco takes care of the high fule costs
