Make sure it's from a Statesman that originally had a TH400 too (ie HJ through to mid 1979 HZ). I've done exactly what piztoff says too, but I removed the captive nots off the ends I cut off and welded them over the new holes to suit the ute/tonner.

HI sikute,
when I fitted a T400 in my ute I retained the original crossmember but just welded a small tag (about 3x3 inch, quarter plate) on the front with pre drilled holes to pick up the mounts on the trans.
That has been there for 5 years now, with n

TH400 mounts are not forward of the crossmember. They are actually on the crossmember. I think you are referring to TH350.

Hi Sikute.

A WB TH350 crossmember will not fit a TH400.

Dr Terry.
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

My comment was for wannabe351. Dr Terry is coorect, youll need an earlier Statesman (or any other factory TH400) crossmember.

you can just drill 2 holds about 45 mm back from the trimatic ones to make the T400 fit.

It won't be a true T400 crossmember, because it will lack the strengthing plates, but it will get you mobile to get to muffler shop etc.
