Hi Guys I have bought an LC Torana and was looking at converting her to a 253, well i just found out by the DPI that its a no go, as i have to modify the steering arm (move it over) for it to fit and they wont allow this in WA,, so im stuck with a 6cyl.I was looking into getting a 186 and was wondering could anyone tell me what work i would need to do for it to sound like a V8 and go pretty hard , Cheers , Sandy

Use a 202. Cheaper and more torque. Itll never sound like a V8, but you can make it go hard.

A V6, VL RB30, 245 or 265 Hemi are also viable swaps but the last RB30 powered LJ that I saw had some of the firewall cut so it would fit.
