Hi is there anyone with experience in Filling in side windows on a panel van?

I have a HJ sandman with a couple of windows in the rear

I have another windowless hj that i can part out as its rusty down low..

Is picking the panels and replacing the sides a better option..?

Cheers

Carl

glue them in with a product that Wurth make, similar to the stuff the factory make when glueing in firewalls from VN onwards. Unpicking is a major job, believe me, we have done both

You'll have to replace the internal struts too, so unpick them off the other van. I'd just get a good beater to cut replacement sections out of the other van and weld them in using a TIG. It's only yellow, not like it's black or a dark colour.

One brace each side will probably be gone by the photo you posted. Pull the windows out and get a panel beater to have a look and tell you what they think. You can also buff the paint up and look down it and see how straight it is, and also run a straight

I'd be careful of that too as there are differences between HJ-HZ shells and some have a stamped firewall number that "belongs" to the tags - if you know your Holdens you can pick a rebody. Putting the braces back is easy. You just need a quality panel be

I know it's not entirely impossible to change a van into a ute but how hard would it be to swap the whole roof upwards of where it joins the top of the quarter panels?

Drill a few hundred spot welds or much more involved?

if you havent welded much i wouldnt risk it
cut a piece the same size and take weld all the corners dont do and long runs it will warp....if you can heat shrink as well that will help get the distorsions out
work opposite the weld you just did to stop t

Wiring harness plug on firewall, mounting stud for HQ style rat-trap, high beam dipper switch. Plus mid HZ onwards had a double pivot point for clutch pedal (like WB - 6cyl pedal goes in top hole, V8 pedal goes in bottom hole). And of course the firewall/

Both my bodys are HJ and neither has the number in the top center of the firewall so would a body swap be detectable ?
