i am in the process of trying to register my hz ute i got it passed blue slip got the greenslip but could not register the car because the chasis numbers did not match up with the compliance plate and now need a letter declaring that this previous owner changed it. we contacted the guy i brought the car off but he had no knowledge of it and has no contact of the person he brought it off so how do i get the car regod if we have no contact with the person who changed it over as long as the car kept in rego and kept getting pink slipped all these years there is no knowledge of the new chasis untill i got this blue slip please help me ASAP

Bloody stupid isnt it. You could register it if there were no ID plates but not when the chassis has been changed. You might have to get another chassis and get it "repaired" by a licenced repairer and then register it that way. Bloody officious BS if you

Did they just require a letter or statutory declaration from the guy who changed it? If so, just write one up and put his name on it. They dont know what his signature looks like.

Hi there

Just a thought for the day....do not falsely declare a statutory declaration.

If you get found out (i.e. they contact the person who made the stat dec) your problems will be a lot bigger than having the rego issue.

Stats Decs....hmm Iguana-gate comes to mind with those. Are they really THAT legal ? Dont seem to be.

People use the stat decs for a whole range of reasons (sick leave, etc) and some tend not to place too much stock in them, but if you are trying to pull the wool over the govt, they tend to take those things seriously.

Take it to your local panel beater, tell him to grind of the old number and put on the correct number and get him to do a stat dec and state the old and new numbers, this should have been done when the chassi was most likely changed in the first place.

Might be worth a try but have you done a REVS Check or VCheck? If the car was registered and the chassis conversion done in the last 8 years or so, it should appear on a VCheck. It will list the post code of every registered owner, and engine and chassis

the chassi number now is different to the one on file with the rta (the original chassi number)and my blue slip is got the new chassi number so im stuffed i think

but who ever changed it never told the rta so it wouldnt be on file

I have a similar issue with my sandman which has had the chassis changed as it had a hit at the front. Luckily I know the original chassis has been cut up and gone to scrap so is not out there being used. Also the van has not been registered since so I am

i am presuming that because you are stating the rta its nsw?...if so they have a form called registration without compliance plates which is when you have no tags...i just blue slipped an hx sedan that didnt have the correct chassis number to what was on

i rang the head honcho in the head office of the RTA and they said to just fill the stat dec out my self stating my position and get a justice of the peace from the court house to sign it so i might be right ill will find out tommorrow
