I was going to do the opposite on my VH and was told that the cross member and tailshaft didnt need changing.
Hope this helps.

Crossmembers are different if I remember correctly, but they can be interchanged. I know LH-UC are different between trimatic and aussie manual boxes - the manual bolts hard up to the body with holes just the right size for the bolts, but the auto has big |

Discounting the difference between 6cyl and V8 there are three basic types:
HT/HG - cable kickdown, LH shift for T-bar, RH shift for column; HQ-WB, LH-LX, and UC column (and LC/LJ I think) - electric kickdown, RH shift; VB-VL and UC T-bar - electric |

Any trimatic will fit, making sure you get the shift side you want. Only problem is HT/G dont have the facility for an electric kickdown switch standard. Youll have to adapt something to the accelerator linkage somewhere. Have a look up under the dash at |

To be perfectly correct youll need to fit the bigger auto pedal, but I prefer to use a manual pedal and remove the clutch pedal. Makes for more room.
