Hi a guy has asked me to help identify if his Monaro is a V8. The hole at B looks wrong (too low) to me for V8 speedo cable - is it supposed to be up at A somewhere? Maybe in the middle of that circle? Thanks for any help, looks to be an Opel car to me.

The hole near the steering columnis the mechanical clutch hole for M15/M20/M21 6 cylinder. If you have any other combo it has a rubber bung in it. They are advertised on ebay as "Bathurst" rubber bungs.

Warren, wrong hole. I meant to one even further right again, where it looks like someone has enlarged one of the column mounting holes.

Thanks Warren and Byron,I think he will be pleased to know his car is a V8. Just on the "Bathurst Bung", is it only HK that have this and T and G have no hole there for auto and hydraulic (Sag) clutch?

That seems to be about right. I've seen plenty of these plates with no hole before, and plenty with. But changes like these don't always happen with model changes.

cheers Byron, I just had a look at a HK prem I've got, column auto, and it has no hole either. Seems pretty random. Car looks original and has cantilever booster and ID plate in middle of firewall so I'm assuming it's a fairly early one... Maybe it (hole/
