thats great infomation mazz,
learning all the time,
it just seems to me it has all been a deliberate manipulation of technology to keep us all tied to oil companies.
some of the cars coming online next 2 years, and i can tell ya, huge amount of people

Good point mazz.

Sydney > Bendigo, 4 adults + box trailer (1800km round trip).

Subaru Liberty (2.5L) used 15L/100km average.
VE Commodore V6 used 10.9L/100km average.

You cant beat the big aussie 6 for long distance economy.

Another example i have is i car pool to work doing 130kms return everyday in my VT V6 sedan with 4 adults.So approx 650km a week averageing at worst 9.5lt/100km in my "gas guzzling" big aussie car.

yeah but if you really want to be green you drive old cars as it takes more green house gases to produce
a new car than a old one uses in its lifetime
but then this opens up another can of worms

at least older cars had more metal ie: metal bumpers that are more useful to recycle.

for instance, it takes 25years to get the green house gases, back, from building a nuclea power plant, before you even save one molecule of ghg,

The car industry is Australia`s second biggest industry, not saving it would cost more tax payers money with unemployment of over 8000 people and thats just Holdens and suppliers not ford.
Its a positive step forward, as jim said we do not need new stadi

OK Cloudy,but how long do I have to keep giving my hard earned TAX dollars to an industry that is obviously failing?How long do we keep proping the car makers up?

For a start I dont buy new cars(cant afford the depreciation).

Well this New Years eve fireworks display will cost 5 million in Sydney alone. If this Government was serious about Greenhouse gases, then they would be more interested in investing that money into reducing carbon waste, and taking some of the load off ta

but if one were to looky a tadd further into it all,,the industry started in aus, purely for this reason,, to create industry, simply for the sake of saying look, we as a nation can make a car!!
