Hi guys how do you tell the difference between a 350 or 400 gear box, in a 71 hq statesman.

TH400 is electric kickdown. TH350 is cable kickdown

Is it obvious to the eye on inspection. Is it visible from the engine bay or do you inspect underneath.

Cable kickdown comes off the carby. Electric kickdown solenoid is on the gearbox on a TH400. The other way to tell is the rear mount. TH400 sits up on the crossmember. TH350 has an outrigger bracket hanging off the front of the crossmember. TH400 also has
