howdy my lj was factory drum brake front and a couple of years ago i put a disk brake front plus booster/master off a lc on it. ive never really been happy with the brakes (all looks fine pads/shoes and about 2 months ago i put new wheel cylinders on) so it seams two brake 90% front also the brake pedal doesn't return all the way not allways (i have to lift it about half an inch with my foot!)
any ideas.....cheers

put a spring from the pedal to under the dash to help it return

Did you also fit the correct small wheel cylinders & matching shoes on the rear, when you did the conversion ?

i dont remember if the diff was outta the lc (disk front) or the diff that was in the lj..also when i got the cylinders i wasnt told about drum/disk cylinders or shoes!?! how can i tell what i have??

When you fitted the new rear cylinders, can you remember if there were 2 push rods from the cylinders to the shoes, or did the pistons butt up directly to the shoes.

so im guessing the push rod style cylinder is the disk brake model!?!
can i still run the same drums,if i change to smaller shoes and cylinders!?!

its low and soft....ive bleed them that many times its not funny! how do i tell if the booster or master cylinder are stuffed!?!

OK Low & soft means there is air in the system or perhaps the booster pushrod doesnt match the piston in the m/cyl. i know on the hqs you have a proputing ? valve mid way down the chassis that needs to be changed are toranas like this 2?

The proportioning valve half-way along the chassis is only seen on the HQ series. HJ & later Holdens (including LH-LX Toranas) have theirs mounted with the differential switch block on the RH inner guard.

the nipples are at the top.....im gunna try clamping the rear brakes.
