i have a hz ute rusty so i want to swap bodys am i allowed to drill out the rivits so the plates still match the paper work???? if so how , and what rivits .......................NOTE TO DARRYL........................ what if i was restoring it and wanted to paint under the rivits not everyone is a crook..fraud.... Whats with the DUMB question? Wouldnt you check with the relivent state registration body or are you trying to rebody stolen cars? Sounds like the later to me.

Years ago no problem. Nowadays it seems to be a touchy subject. Personally I see no problem with it - a body is as much a spare part as a guard. But you arent supposed to remove the ADR tag. Noot sure how you do a rust reppair on the cowl though without r |

It is a bit different to a pre 1970 Monaro, as on the HZ the identity of the car as far as the Police and registry are concerned is on the chassis. With the HK and pre 1970 HT the sole identity of the car lies with the actual body shell not the rails. So |

You will find there is quite a good reason for the law. It is very easy, you cannot remove a compliance plate (the one with the adrs and chassis number on it, not the other tags) from a vahicle.
Now we all know that for some models it is quite "normal"

as long as the Chassis rail number matches the ADR tag chassis number, i dont see any problem. its not the same argument as HKTG for this reason.
WANTED: HZ sandman Van 6/10 or better. |

Adam, I agree but we must remember that removing an ADR tag is the problem, ie not exactly legal.

i asked a real policeman who deal with rebirths etc, and i was told the only way this was legal was if the donor shell was in fact a "spare part" and did not already have an adr tag attached.
How many of these "spare parts" have you seen on Egay?

Without wanting to get too pedantic, is it technically illegal to remove a compliance plate for the purpose of re-painting, repairing or restoring a car & then re-fit it to the same car using the correct rivets. Most people would never know (or care), but |

dr terry, id like to know the same thing
i am currantly restoring a hq ambulance, the rust in the firewall/cowl panel/plemnum is quite bad, there is a large hole right next to the pass side id plate and i was going to remove the tag to repair the rust
